Who we are

We were born in these mountains

We know the villages, the families, the roads. Since 2016, Fundación Humanitos has worked alongside communities, volunteers, and allies from around the world to build real opportunities in Norte de Santander, Colombia.

Mission

For children in rural Colombia to have better opportunities, through education, culture, wellbeing, and technology — in partnership with communities, volunteers, and allies from around the world.

Vision

To be the leading organization in Norte de Santander — recognized for transforming lives in real, measurable ways, with a model other regions can replicate, through the cooperation of those who choose to believe and create.

How do we work?

Our main allies are rural teachers, who let us support children from the classroom — alongside volunteers and Humanitos experts around the world who donate their time, knowledge, and experience.

We're funded by the support of our volunteers and donors, and by the Creer y Crear project.

Who do we work alongside?

School-age children in rural communities of Norte de Santander, and the families and schools that walk with them — regardless of their background or socioeconomic situation.

Our team

Who leads us

Fundación Humanitos leadership team

Mónica Pimiento, (Center) director of the Foundation, leads our education and culture, technology, and intercultural connection projects.

Yaneth Pimiento, (Left) a physician specialized in alternative and complementary medicine, leads our rural health and wellbeing projects.

Yovana Eugenio, (Right) a rural woman and early childhood education professional, is our right hand as administrative assistant.

Alongside this team are dozens of volunteers — teachers, accountants, lawyers, engineers, doctors, and other Humanitos professionals — who make the Foundation's work possible.

Where we work

Rural Cácota

At 2,465 meters above sea level, Cácota lives off potatoes, peas, curuba, and peaches — and is part of the Santurbán páramo, the water source that supplies the Santander region. Here we support CER La Fenicia, at its La Laguna, La Upá, and El Hato campuses, with additional support to Colegio Ortún Velazco.

Rural Pamplona

At 2,200 meters above sea level, Pamplona is a historic educational hub of eastern Colombia. Here we support CER Chíchira, at its Negavita, Fontibón, El Ají, and Tencalá campuses.
